The Frog Blog

For some unaccountable reason, tree frogs have been hanging out around the terrace in front of our house. One even sat in Maren's shoe, just outside our front door and another made its way into our boiler room! Can you spot the frog in the ivy?

More sensible frogs take up residence near our pond, clutching onto reed stems and pretending to be invisible.

Easter in Andalucia

Easter is over. It was a particularly cold one this year, with temperatures dropping to below 3 degrees at night. We watched the spectacular processions in Sevilla for the third time, but this year we also went to the neighbouring village of Moguer to see a small scale local procession. We've compiled photos from three years and created a new page you can see here.

A Special Easter Surprise

Tawny owls have nested every year in a box we put up for them in one of our big pine trees over four years ago. On Easter Saturday we were delighted to see a fluffy face framed in the entrance to their box.

On searching the trees, we found another Easter chick perched out in the open! This one seems to have left the box at a much younger age than we have seen them emerge in previous years.

We just got back from a four week job off the Republic of Congo. We saw a lot of dolphins and witnessed and even managed to photograph some spectacular marlin hunts, as they chased dorado near the ship. There is a selection of photos on our Ocean Life Congo page.

At the start and end of the job we had bit of time to explore on shore and have posted photos on the Pointe Noire page.

We also updated the Ocean Life Gabon page and posted a short photo story about an encounter between a thresher shark and a brown booby - The booby and the beast.

At last we are going public with our newly designed website! There is still lots more to add, including the Kenya 2008 detailed travel diary, the "Saca de las Yeguas" page of the round-up of the wild horses near Almonte and the "Ocean Life" pages with our photos of marine mammals and seabirds. We will try to update the website on a regular basis, so please drop in to have a look around from time to time. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
