    ABOUT WILDSCOPE
PLANTS

The Wildscope site has been put on the web with an initial stock of around 1000 photographs, covering a variety of wildlife themes. Our first priority has been to concentrate on pictures of common European marine mammals, especially the harbour porpoise, bottlenose dolphin and grey seal. However, some rarer species are also represented, such as the Blainville’s beaked whale that stranded in Wales in 1993.

As well as photographs of animal and plant species and their habitats, Wildscope also holds images illustrating conservation issues, for example marine litter, animals in captivity and the sale of whale meat for human consumption.

We are currently digitising our film stock and will soon be adding new themes and images. Among these will be seabird colonies and wildlife photographs from both Kenya and West Africa (Mauritania, Senegal and The Gambia). Our section covering conservation issues will be updated with pictures of seismic survey vessels and equipment. And of course we are continually taking fresh pictures and will update this site on a regular basis.

The latest update includes pictures of locust swarms in northwest Africa, marsh fritillary butterflies and aerial views of the west Wales coastline.
